E-Design Reveal Photos: Blue and White Living Room

Client ProjectsSarice GutmanComment

I love when clients send me photos of their completed e-designs!  In late April I blogged about a blue and white living room and entryway project that turned out wonderfully.  When I received the snapshots of the finished space, I wanted to share them here with you!

To refresh your memory, here was the finished e-design board I presented to my client Laura.

Find more details about this project's e-design process here.  Some minor details in the design changed due to the popularity of the particular items, which caused some to sell out.  But the final space turned out very similar, if not practically identical to the e-design plan.

And here is the space today!

It is now a nice, comfortable space for entertaining and relaxing.  Thank you Laura for sending me the photos!

E-Design: Girly Chinoiserie Nursery

Client Projects, My HomeSarice GutmanComment

The day is finally here to reveal the e-design for my baby girl's nursery!  This project has been truly special because this is a space that will grow right along with my little girl!

The theme I picked for my little girl's nursery is girly chinoiserie.  I have always loved chinoiserie style decor and it was an easy decision for the nursery.  I love how it is youthful but not babyish whatsoever (remember my 3 tips for designing a nursery?!).  My basic color scheme is blue, white, and pink with some other accent colors here and there.  I designed the entire nursery around the beautiful rug (obsessed!); it sure is a fantastic statement piece for the entire room!  Ok, enough blabbing.  Here is my girly chinoiserie nursery e-design!

As you can see, I chose to keep all the furniture a crisp white to allow all of the colors to really pop!  I had been hoarding those six chinoiserie botanical art prints for quite some time, and I was thrilled to finally have the perfect place to showcase them.  I'm sure you recognize those fabulous butterfly/moth prints from my last Etsy Finds post!  I'm also loving the two blue and white lamps I picked out, one of which you'll recognize from my latest Look For Less post.  And of course, we can't ignore that adorable faux fur ottoman.  So in love.

I have been working hard on setting up the nursery and I can't wait to show you the finished space in a month or two!  I will be 30 weeks pregnant this week so I hope to finish it sooner rather than later!  Stay tuned for pictures of the finished room as well as more source details.  So exciting!

Look For Less! Vol. VI - Blue And White Table Lamp

Design Inspiration, My HomeSarice GutmanComment

Today's Look For Less post may just be the best one yet!  I discovered it in a happy accident and I am excited to share my find with you today.  As you know, I've been working on my nursery design, and I had been searching for a petite blue and white table lamp to sit next to the nursery glider chair.  Can't wait to show you what I found!

Blue and white lamps look so clean and crisp in a space! I knew that was the look I wanted to obtain in the nursery (p.s. design reveal NEXT WEEK!!).  See what I mean?!  Blue and white can be integrated anywhere.  And I mean anywhere.

3 Way to Incorporate Blue and White Porcelain Into Your Home

Design Inspiration, My HomeSarice GutmanComment

I can't seem to get enough of blue and white porcelain!  These classic statement pieces are well sought after as many are very valuable antiques from Imperial China.  One of the most popular is known as the "Happiness Pot," which has the Chinese symbol for happiness and prosperity.  Traditionally happiness pots were given to newlyweds as wedding gifts.  Click here to learn more!

I love how the blue and white patterns seem to seamlessly integrate into any decor and add depth and interest at the same time.  Here are 3 ways to incorporate blue and white porcelain into your home!

1. Use Blue & White Porcelain to Hold Flowers or Greenery

This room's coastal vibe displays how lovely blue and white porcelain ginger jars function as vases for flowers or foliage.  I always believe that plants and greenery breathe life into a room!

2. Place Blue & White Porcelain in a Large Grouping

A group of three or more of any item makes more of a design impact.  This traditional yet rustic vignette shows how a grouping of blue and white porcelain can make a big statement

Notice how utilizing groupings as well as flowers and greenery can elevate blue and white porcelain decor to a whole new level!

3. Utilize Blue & White Porcelain to Add a Pop of Color

Lastly, I love how blue and white porcelain can add a vibrant pop of color to any room.  The photo below shows how well this works in an otherwise monochromatic color scheme. Also, notice that despite the mostly modern design style, the blue and white pieces do not seem out of place.

You can see here that the addition of blue and white porcelain can make other blue accents even more dramatic.

In the last year I have started a blue and white porcelain collection of my own.  On a recent trip to my local Home Goods store, I spotted this little beauty from the entrance.  I may or may not have squealed out loud! I think my desk is a great place for my new little jar!

Even though the blue and white porcelain I have acquired isn't authentic, I still love it all the same.  Many retailers carry variations of blue and white porcelain vases, ginger jars, planters, bowls, lamps, plates, garden stools etc. Other great places to find these treasures include estate sales, thrift stores, antique shops, and even vintage sellers on  Below are some lovey pieces I've found online.

Do you have any blue and white beauties in your home? Next time you come across a piece of blue and white porcelain, take a chance and incorporate it into your home. You won't regret it!  Want to add blue and white porcelain into your home but need my help? Let me know!

Note: Wisteria did not sponsor this post.  All opinions are my own. I love this online retailer and have a number of their products in my own home. Check them out for yourself!
